Kate and Adam met with us a while back when they first started planning their December wedding. Both are attending school in Charlotte at the moment- Kate’s in art school and Adam is studying physics. When they came over, Kate showed us her website and we were completely blown away. Her illustrative work is phenomenal. Working with another artist, we are just so flattered that they chose us as their wedding photographers. Here is Kate’s site if you’d like to have a look around or buy some of her work: http://www.inkycactus.com

Not including a couple of Ikea day trips, Josh and I have only been to Charlotte one other time. But seeing as this is where Kate and Adam hang out, it holds a special meaning to them which makes our trip completely worthwhile. For their engagement session, we met up in NODA just outside of the downtown area. The area is edgy and urban which I think suits their style really well. Kate and Adam wandered around a bit and took us to their favorite nearby bakery, Amelies. We got a delicious sampling of their desserts to keep us energized before heading out to take some more pictures. You also might be wondering how a monster head ended up at the shoot. Well- Kate made that Where the Wild Things are costume all by herself. Yes, seriously. I told you- she’s super talented! Seeing as Halloween is coming up, we thought it would be fun to include that in a few shots. I’m very glad we did.

Kate and Adam, I have had such a great time getting to know you both! Can’t wait to see you again in December for the big day :) ~Shelley Hartman, Charlotte + Destination Wedding Photographer
