Chris and Matt will be getting married next month. In planning their engagement, we came up with grand ideas of heading into the mountains and hiking to waterfalls. Then, life happens and plans change. But really, things always work out the way they should. Chris and Matt made a last minute decision to switch their session to downtown Durham where they like to hang out. The Durham Hotel  just opened up, and after grabbing drinks there a few days before, these two got us permission to photograph there.

I have to say, the Durham Hotel is a really cool spot. The entire building is decorated in a colorful retro art-deco style and the staff really could not be any friendlier. Everyone knew Chris and Matt by name and made sure these two thoroughly enjoyed the view and cocktails. I will definitely have to bring Josh back here with me.

After spending some time at the Hotel Durham, we wandered across the street and down the road to Motorco.  Of course we took advantage of the awesome brick alleyways and urban rustic architecture. By the time we got to Motorco to finish up the session, Chris and Matt were ready for a nice cold beer.

Thank you so much for showing me around to some cool new spots and spending your evening with me. I’m looking forward to seeing both of you again soon! ~Shelley.
