April + Tony | Engagement in Beaufort

April and Tony are an adorable couple who have been together since high school. They originally contacted us to photograph their wedding in Raleigh, but decided that they would also like to have us photograph their engagement session in Beaufort. April’s family owns a house near the coast and she and Tony love to getaway to this cute little coastal town. Josh and I love to visit that area and see the ponies on Shackleford Banks, so it didn’t take any convincing for us to make the 3 hour drive. When we met up with April and Tony, we started out in the downtown area and then headed our way off to some of the old docks down the road. We walked along the boardwalk at the waterfront, visited an old fishing hut, and took some pictures with the shrimp boats. One fisherman was even kind enough to invite us to take a tour of his adorable cabin. Then just before dusk, we headed to the marsh to take some photos at sunset. The colors were beautiful and vivid and it was the perfect way to end our day! Afterward, Josh and I set up our tent at a nearby campground and listened to the waves lap near our tent. We woke up bright and early to take a ferry out to Shackleford Banks with Migo and enjoyed the day under the sun photographing wild ponies. What a weekend to remember! ~ Josh and Shelley, North Carolina and Destination Wedding Photographers
