I had a really great time in California. But with El Nino in full force this winter, heavy rains forced us to end our visit early. The day before we left, it rained the whole day. I was working in our camper when I stepped outside to get something from the car and saw that the whole campground was flooded! Luckily, our campsite was slightly elevated, but everything else around us was under 1-3 inches of water. Not good!

We’d had a lot of rain on this trip, so we were ready to head somewhere dry. Conveniently, we had planned a route back to the East Coast through the desert. A lady at the campground told us about the “superbloom” of yellow flowers at Death Valley, so we originally planned to stop there on our way back. However, intense winds stopped us from making the journey with our camper and we decided to head towards Sedona instead.

The scenery between San Fransisco and Sedona was amazing. We enjoyed a gorgeous sunset over the rolling hills and watched the light dim over the desert. Sedona was a place that I had been curious about since reading about it in a Southwest Magazine. I have to say, it did not disappoint. Plenty more pics of this beautiful place to come!
